Load your whole team from Excel in two minutes
How to download the template, fill it in and upload it to add the whole squad in one go, without typing player by player.
Typing in twenty-five players by hand with their name, number and size is the most tedious part of ordering a kit. And it's where mistakes creep in: a repeated number, a name missing its accent, a size written down from memory. The customiser's Excel template takes care of that. Here's how to use it, step by step.
Where the button is
In “Design your shirt”, put your design together and go to step 3, “Your team and players”. Next to the player list, open “Load the list from a spreadsheet”: there you have “⬇ Download template”, “Upload file (.xlsx or .csv)” and “or paste from the sheet”.
In the catalogue customiser, at the “Players” step, the button is “Load squad list”. In both cases, the template downloads to your computer.
Always download it from the product you're going to order
This is the important point and the one most often overlooked: the template is generated on the spot, with the sizes of the product you're setting up. It isn't a generic file that works for the whole catalogue.
Each garment has its own sizing. The sublimated shirt doesn't come in the same sizes as the cotton one. Hence two rules:
- Download the template from the specific product you're going to order, not from another model you had open.
- Don't reuse last season's. It may include sizes that product no longer offers, and you'll have to fix rows.
If you're going to order shirts and sweatshirts, download a template for each. It takes thirty seconds and saves you the hassle.
One row per player
The file is filled in with one row per player. The columns are:
- Name, exactly as you want it to appear on the back.
- Number.
- Shirt size.
- Shorts size and socks size, optional: only if you're ordering the full set.
In “Design your shirt”, the columns depend on the garments you've chosen: if you're not ordering shorts, it doesn't ask for their size.
Write the names with their accents and check double-barrelled surnames. That's what always slips through, and once it's sublimated there's no going back.
The file is locked, and on purpose
The template comes protected: you can only type in the right cells. Sizes aren't typed, they're chosen from a drop-down list with the real sizes of that product.
That way no value slips in that the model isn't made in. It's the difference between a list that uploads cleanly first time and one where someone wrote “medium” instead of M.
The three boxes at the top
In the catalogue template, the header has three fields before the player list that affect the whole order:
- Team name.
- Type of shorts: sublimated or basic.
- Colour of the basic shorts and the socks.
Fill them in before you share the file out among team managers or coaches. If everyone puts whatever they think, you end up combining lists that don't fit together.
The preview: what you see before anything is applied
When you upload the file, it isn't applied straight away. First a preview appears with:
- How many players will be loaded. If you were expecting twenty-two and you see nineteen, that's where you catch it.
- The first rows, so you can check at a glance that the columns are where they should be.
- The warnings. If a size is spelled wrong, it tells you which row the problem is in and which sizes that product accepts.
You correct it in Excel, upload it again and you're done. No need to start from scratch.
It replaces the list, it doesn't add to it
When you apply the template, the player list you have on screen is replaced by the one in the file. It isn't added to the end.
Bear it in mind if you'd already typed in half the squad by hand: put everyone in the Excel file and upload one complete list. It's cleaner than mixing the two methods.
If you already have the list in another sheet: the paste button
Many clubs keep their squad list in their own file from pre-season. In those cases there's no need to download anything: use the paste button.
You copy the columns from your spreadsheet, with the header row, and paste them; in Design your shirt, with “or paste from the sheet”. It works with Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, and you see the same preview as with the downloaded template.
And without a spreadsheet: paste the list as it is
If you have the list in the WhatsApp group or in a note, you don't need any spreadsheet. With “Paste a list” you paste it as it is, without a header. In “Design your shirt” “GARCÍA 7 M”, “7 García” or “Ruiz; 12; XL” all work; in the catalogue, if the size is missing, it puts M.
And with “Number them 1, 2, 3…” you number the players in order in no time. Both are in both customisers.
Quick summary
- In Design your shirt, step 3, “Load the list from a spreadsheet”; in the catalogue, “Players” step, “Load squad list”.
- Download it from the product you're going to order; never reuse one from another model or another season.
- Fill in the header (team, type of shorts, colours) and one row per player.
- Sizes are chosen from the drop-down, not typed.
- Upload the file and check the preview: number of players, first rows and warnings.
- Remember that applying it replaces the current list.
- And save it: in “Design your shirt”, saving the design also saves the player list with their sizes. That way you don't have to upload the Excel file again if you change a colour tomorrow. You can save up to 3 designs in your account. Note: the share link doesn't include the player list.
Before filling anything in, make sure the sizes you're going to write down are the right ones. We explain it in how to take sizes for a whole team without mistakes. Once you have them, the rest is opening the customiser and letting the file do the work.
